What a magnificent and magical place the Subway in Zion National Park is! Hiking in Zion has been a part of my life since I was very young. I remember driving on Kolob road with my Grandfather Ephraim, and he was testing one of his inventions on the window of his car.
One day, I decided to hike into the canyon where the Subway is a very different way. I started in Cave Valley, hiked to the top and looked down knowing that a stream enters the canyon from there, so I carefully started down, going down some very challenging and steep cliffs that I knew I did not dare climb back up. I eventually made it to the stream and discovered that there were fish in the length of that stream, so I thought this would be a good place to go live if all else failed.
It was my adventurer brain kicking in. Getting back to my vehicle that day was extremely challenging, as is the Subway hike any way you get there. But oh my goodness, it is worth it. If you have not been there, you should go.
